The Indian civilization, with its firm and sound foundation, has successfully withstood the passage of time. The western civilization with its tendency to privilege materialism could not match the Indian civilization that elevated the moral being.
The Indian civilization is unparallel and unmatched. The seeds sown by our ancestors have grown into a deep rooted tree. Many ancient civilizations like Rome and Greece have diminished or no longer exist in their former glory. China has shifted from its past culture and Japan has become westernized.

India is accused of being unable to adopt change and her people are considered uncivilized. In the midst of all these allegations India remains firm and unchangeable and that is her glory. It has an unquenchable desire to want more and learn and yet remain unsatisfied. In fact our ancestors had set a limit to our indulgences and persuaded us against luxuries and pleasures. According to them large cities were a burden and a trap where people would not be happy because there would be gang of thieves, robbers, prostitutes and antisocial elements.
The western civilization propagates immorality whereas the Indian civilization elevates the moral being as it is based on a belief in God ? The ancient civilization places restrictions upon an indefinite multiplicity of human wants whereas modern civilization is just the reverse.
Wonderful discoveries about material things have been made in the west. On the other hand, marvellous discoveries about religion, the spirit and the soul were made in India. There is something in Hinduism which has kept it alive and made it witness the downfall of civilizations like Babylonia, Syria, Egypt etc.
European civilization is suited for Europe and will ruin us if we copy it as our civilization and culture teach us to restrict wants instead of multiplying them.
All our energies should be concentrated to arrange our physical and circumstances so that they do not become an obstacle in our service to humanity.
